I was thinking about this lately, in light of the courage I have had to muster in recent months… Sir Winston Churchill always comes to mind...
When I lived in London, I visited the Winston Churchill Cabinet War Rooms.
The very place that was the secret underground headquarters for the core of the British government throughout the Second World War. They feared London would be the target of aerial bombardment so in 1938 the basement of a Whitehall building was chosen as the site for the Cabinet War Rooms.
I can tell you I was absolutely thrilled to stand in a building of phenomenal significance to myself and my Country and to the World.
The courage of the hundreds of men and women who spent thousands of vital hours there between 1940 – 1945 is beyond measure if you consider the generations of lives that now exist because of the decisions that were made in that very spot, where I stood, and the consequences of their actions.
Sir Winston Churchill is quoted as saying: “If you are going to go through hell, keep going!”
And so I’m thinking, wow, what an ATTITUDE and what a way to express yourself! And what a pity we use softer variations of this statement nowadays, such as: “Keep going and don’t give up!” Somehow this modern day ‘wussy’ version just doesn’t have the same kick does it.
All I know is that when you’re going through hell and courage is required there are definitely stronger ways to express it, so I’ve keenly adopted Sir Winton Churchill’s enthusiasm and his way with words!
This is my message for today. We need two things to keep going, courage and attitude. One of the ways I changed my attitude was through having a huge laugh reading stupid funny posters on Facebook, like this one below… LOL
